The Challenge

With the cost of postsecondary education at an all-high, the California Student Aid Commission had an opportunity to become a lead source for providing debt-free ways to fund student education. With an outdated brand and crumbling positioning, I conducted a full brand and marketing audit with a marketing strategy to relaunch the CSAC brand.

The Process

This audit explored the health of the California Student Aid Commission’s (CSAC) brand. It examined how CSAC has performed over the last decade through extensive research into the financial aid industry, the competitors, competitive analysis, and points of parity and difference. The audit included a brand inventory to include marketing materials, sub-brands, and secondary brand partnerships. The brand exploratory examined insights from seven human-centered design focus groups providing conducted with the defined target audience and the internal staff and commissioners of CSAC. Finally, the audit also provided strategic and tactical recommendations to prolong the health of the brand.
