The Challenge

Please note, client industry isn't available to select in Brand Industry. Chose eCommerce because I provide paid ads for my eCommerce client that provides B2B crowd management products. Their challenge was tracking phone calls from their ads, improving their ROAS for Search and Shopping ads for Google and Bing and scaling their Amazon campaigns.

The Process

I first provided an audit and after that was approved, I implemented the updates. I first implemented CallRail software to track all their phone calls and enabled it to track their Shopping ad calls because Google doesn't track calls from Shopping ads. I then created leads in Google Tag Manager to track calls from website, sign ups, contact us, emails sent, and quote requests assigning a value to them in Google ads so we could generate leads. I next converted their Shopping campaigns to Smart Shopping and enabled tROAS bidding to meet their goals creating campaigns based on product types. Next I rebuilt their Search campaigns: made bid % based on device, demographics, updated the ad schedule. Created brand and non brand campaigns and others based on product types. Updated all headlines, ad extensions, copy and keywords. I made the same updates for the Microsoft Bing campaigns. I also scaled their Amazon campaigns by adding more Product campaigns, Sponsored Brand and Best Selling SKUs and optimized keyword bidding.

The Solution

CPL

Calian

Calian is a large B2B/B2G professional services company, publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. When I started with Calian in early 2019, they had a Drupal 7 website that had been somewhat neglected and had technical issues, and the design and content were overall unimpressive, and not representative of a strong brand with an umbrella of highly specialized solutions. They were also lacking a social media strategy, appropriate analytics tracking, marketing automation and a modern CRM solution.

LessonsUp

During our initial analysis of the company we identified the following challenges:

  • Lead Generation from Facebook Ads was incurring a high overall cost. However, the number of sign-ups and the click-through rate were not satisfactory;
  • To improve quality scores and lower costs, we needed to create optimised landing pages but the website was a bespoke build and was extremely limited;
  • A need to improve the number of conversions without increasing the budget due to constraints.

Dakine

Dakine was running paid search campaigns that were targeting all of the United States and were not breaking up states. I let them know this was a concern because different audiences in different regions are going to be interested in the same products, it depends on the weather.
